Kida Ramadan is getting out of prison: Goodbye, Germany!

Berlin actor Kida Khodr Ramadan has been released from prison after serving a sentence for repeatedly driving without a license. The 48-year-old actor, known for his role as clan leader Toni Hamadi in the hit series 4 Blocks, was caught by police around 30 times driving without a license. A father of six, he was ultimately convicted and sentenced to prison, but later described his time in custody as bearable.

Ramadan was placed in open custody on August 6, 2024, allowing him to leave prison during the day and return at night. After a full year, at the beginning of August 2025, he was officially released. Since then, the actor has expressed his growing frustration with Germany, revealing that he is already considering leaving the country.

In an interview with the Tagesspiegel newspaper, Ramadan admitted that he is not without faults. He said: "I know I am not a blank slate, and I am a bold boy from Kreuzberg and I make mistakes too, but I sometimes find it unfair to be described harshly and to be dismissed in this way."

His most prominent criticism was directed at the media coverage of his case. He explained that the media portrayed him differently depending on the context. He said: "I was bothered that the story was not told correctly. When I won the awards, they said: the German actor Kida Ramadan. And when I went to prison, I suddenly became the Lebanese."

After becoming free, it seems that Ramadan is determined to move forward with new plans, although his statements reflect a complicated relationship with Germany. His case has sparked renewed debate about how the media portrays public figures, identity, and the way celebrities are judged when they fall from grace.
