Foiling an Iranian plot to target Jews in Germany

The terrorist spy Ali S. (53 years old), of Afghan origin and holding Danish nationality, has filmed and monitored ten potential targets for arson attacks in the capital Berlin, including Jewish and Israeli facilities. He is expected to be transferred this week by the German elite unit GSG 9 to the federal court in Karlsruhe, which may be his last trip outside prison for a long time.

The information obtained by the German authorities against Ali S. is considered very strong, as it is expected that the investigating judge will issue an order for his provisional detention. Ali S. is accused of working for a special unit in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard, known for carrying out terrorist operations against Jewish and Israeli targets around the world.

In its investigations, the authorities are focusing on a meeting that took place on June 5 between Ali S. and an Iranian woman at a popular café called "Milchmanns" in the Berlin-Pankow area, opposite the former Jewish orphanage building. During this meeting, Ali S. showed the woman pictures and videos from his mobile phone related to the targets he had been monitoring. The woman is currently considered only a "witness," but her true role in the scheme remains unclear. It is said that investigators from the Federal Criminal Police Office, from the "Islamic Terrorism" department, have already questioned her.

Among the targets that were monitored was the headquarters of the German-Israeli Friendship Association in central Berlin, which is headed by Volker Beck (64 years old, from the Green Party), who is one of the most prominent supporters of Israel in Germany. Beck said: "This is not the first time we have been targeted by Iran or anti-Semites. I thank the authorities for this achievement, but we must not underestimate the danger of the criminal regime in Tehran."

German Foreign Minister Johan Fadibol (62, from the Christian Democratic Union) called for decisive action against Iran, stating: "We must show the mullahs that we will defend ourselves. This also includes expelling the Iranian ambassador or his staff from Berlin." For his part, Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt (55, from the CSU) praised the success of the domestic intelligence services, which played a "crucial role" in the arrest of the spy. He said: "The level of threat remains high, especially for Jewish institutions. It is clear that protecting Jewish life is our top priority, which is why we are intensifying surveillance."
