The police have released new photos of Omar Al-Hamd, wanted for the murder of his wife in Almere.
The Dutch police announced new photos of Omar Alhamd, a 34-year-old Syrian man suspected of killing his wife Bushra in the city of Almere last month. During the investigation program Opsporing Verzocht on Tuesday, the public prosecutor announced a reward of 10,000 euros for anyone who provides information leading to his arrest.
Bushra, 24 years old, was a mother of five children. Although she had been separated from Hamad for a while, they were still married and kept in touch with each other. On the morning of August 7, she was last seen saying goodbye to two of her children before going to meet him. However, she did not return later to pick up her other children from daycare, which immediately raised concern.
On the same day, Hamad was recorded by surveillance cameras leaving the asylum center in the city of Zeist where he was residing. The cameras later captured him fueling his gray Peugeot 307 SW on the A1 highway near Amersfoort. A similar car was spotted in a parking lot near Poortdreef 30 minutes before Bushra was last seen there.
A week later, on August 14, Bushra's body was found in a nature reserve on the outskirts of the Almere-Poort area. Investigators believe that Alhamd took her there and killed her violently. Since then, neither the suspect nor his car has been found.
The police confirmed that Al-Hamd was not seen directly with Bushra on the morning of her disappearance, but the evidence – including his movements, the nature of their relationship, and his sudden disappearance – strongly indicates his involvement. Authorities are now urging the public to provide any information that may help in apprehending him.
