Video: Gunfire and cries of Allahu Akbar in Vienna
The Floridsdorf district in the Austrian capital Vienna witnessed horrifying events on Friday evening that caused panic among residents, as a young man fired several shots into the air while shouting 'Allahu Akbar'.
A resident, named Ahmed (a pseudonym), was at home around 9 PM when he heard loud screams followed by gunshots near his window. He immediately grabbed his phone and started recording the scene from his window, capturing a video showing a group of young people chasing someone in a skate park in the Bodenstedtgasse area. One of them was armed and fired repeatedly into the air, shouting "Allahu Akbar" in Arabic.
The incident required a wide security intervention, as the police and the elite unit WEGA arrived at the scene within minutes and secured the area around the Floridsdorf station. However, the suspects had left the site, and the police immediately launched a large search campaign for them with no results that same night.
The police managed to find seven spent cartridges from a blank gun, and no injuries or material damages were reported.
However, the relevant security authorities, including the Landeskriminalamt and the Landesamt für Staatsschutz und Extremismusbekämpfung, have initiated investigations into the incident. The police continue intensive search operations for the suspects to this day.
