Wizz Air Cancels Flights & Heatwave Alert
Wizz Air is reducing the number of flights operated from Romanian airports, affecting travel plans from cities such as Timișoara and Brașov. At the same time, health authorities are warning of the deadly risks of the heatwave, as Europe records record temperatures. In the region, tensions are rising in Serbia due to protests, and Russia acknowledges difficulties following Ukrainian attacks.
Passengers with scheduled travel from Timișoara or Brașov must check their bookings, as Wizz Air has decided to eliminate or suspend several routes. The low-cost airline (with reduced prices) took this measure for operational reasons, which may force travelers to seek alternative transportation at the last minute.
Increased attention to health during heatwave days is advised, after the World Health Organization warned that heat stress has already caused over 1,300 deaths in Europe. Many homes and workplaces are not built to cope with these temperatures, which reached record levels in Germany, the Czech Republic, and Denmark last weekend.
Regarding regional security, Russian President Vladimir Putin has publicly admitted that Russia has "problems" due to Ukrainian drone attacks. The statement comes after an operation in the Krasnodar region, which resulted in one death, and confirms the vulnerabilities of Russian defenses against long-range attacks.
On Romania's southwestern border, thousands of people protested in the Serbian city of Kraljevo against President Aleksandar Vucic. Although he announced that he would step down, the demonstrations continue, maintaining a state of political instability in the neighboring country.
