Consultations at Cotroceni: Victor Ponta proposed for the position of Prime Minister
Official consultations between the President of Romania and representatives of parliamentary parties began today at the Cotroceni Palace. The purpose of these meetings is to designate a new candidate for the position of Prime Minister, following recent political negotiations.
During these discussions, the "United for Romania" parliamentary group officially put forward the proposal for Victor Ponta to take over the leadership of the Government. Representatives of the group supported this decision, arguing that the former Prime Minister continues to enjoy the trust and support of a segment of the citizenry.
The proposal comes in a political context marked by the need for stability within the Executive branch. The country's President is set to analyze all options proposed by the political parties before making a final decision regarding the designation of the person who will form the new cabinet.
The consultations will continue throughout the day with the other leaders of the parliamentary formations. After the conclusion of these discussions, the Presidential Administration will announce the official name of the candidate chosen to receive the mandate to form the new Government of Romania.
