Ten years of innovation: The FIRST Tech Challenge robotics program has changed the future of students in Romania
The FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Romania educational program recently marked an important milestone, celebrating ten years of activity dedicated to young people passionate about technology. This initiative has become an essential pillar in the development of digital and engineering skills for students across the country, providing them with a competitive and creative framework to put their ideas into practice.
Since its launch, the program has recorded impressive figures that demonstrate its impact on the educational community. Over 10,800 students have actively participated in workshops and competitions, guided by 550 dedicated mentor teachers. In addition, the success of this project has been supported by the efforts of 600 volunteers who contributed to organizing events and mentoring the teams.
In total, 236 robotics teams have been formed within this program, each having the opportunity to build and program complex robots. These teams not only learned to work with advanced technologies but also developed essential skills for their future careers, such as teamwork, problem-solving under pressure, and critical thinking.
The impact of the FIRST Tech Challenge goes beyond the scope of competitions, preparing a new generation of specialists for the Romanian labor market. Many of the former participants have chosen to pursue technical faculties, carrying forward the passion discovered during their high school years and contributing to the development of the local technology sector.
Looking to the future, the organizers aim to continue expanding the program to attract even more young people from urban and rural areas. This ten-year anniversary represents not only a recognition of past achievements but also a commitment to supporting innovation in Romanian education for the long term.
