Medical staff in Romania have launched a warning strike
Hundreds of hospitals in Romania were affected today by a warning strike of medical staff. Employees in the healthcare system chose this form of protest to express their dissatisfaction with the new salary law, which they consider inequitable.
Union members argue that the current salary regulations do not correctly reflect the responsibilities and workload of medical personnel. They are demanding that authorities better recognize the efforts made by doctors, nurses, and auxiliary staff, requesting concrete changes to the salary scale.
During the warning strike, activity in healthcare units was partially limited. However, union representatives gave assurances that medical emergencies and patients requiring critical care continued to be treated so as not to put anyone's life at risk.
If negotiations with the Ministry of Health and decision-makers do not lead to the expected results, the medical staff has already announced their intention to launch a general strike. This is scheduled to begin on the 28th of the current month, which could paralyze activity in most hospitals across the country.
Currently, patients and citizens are advised to follow the official announcements of medical units to find out how appointments and consultations will be affected in the coming period. Authorities are continuing discussions with union leaders to find an amicable solution and avoid a shutdown of the healthcare system.
