Deadlines for PNRR projects: Ilie Bolojan demands urgent completion of works
Romania's interim Prime Minister, Ilie Bolojan, has sent a firm message to local and central authorities regarding the status of investments funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). In a recent discussion with ministers and prefects, he emphasized that the completion and handover of these projects represent the Government's top priority for the next two weeks.
Currently, approximately 4,500 projects nationwide have not yet been officially received. This situation is concerning to authorities, as execution deadlines are strict. Officials must ensure that all started works are ready on time in order to access the allocated European funds.
Ilie Bolojan warned that any unjustified delay will have direct financial consequences for the Romanian state. For works that are not completed according to the established schedule, Romania risks incurring significant financial penalties, which would impact the state budget.
Local authorities have been tasked with closely monitoring every construction site and reporting any bottlenecks that could hinder the handover of the works. The Government's main objective is to avoid losing European money and to complete as many infrastructure projects as possible by the deadline.
In conclusion, the next two weeks are decisive for the success of PNRR fund absorption. The Government is counting on a rapid mobilization of all involved institutions to close outstanding projects and avoid financial sanctions imposed by the European Union.
