Modernizing Romania's power grid: Electromontaj has completed the first STATCOM installations
The Romanian company Electromontaj has announced the completion of the first STATCOM-type installations integrated into the country's Transmission and System Operator network. This project represents an important step for the modernization of the national energy infrastructure, being considered a benchmark investment for the stability of the Romanian energy system.
STATCOM (Static Synchronous Compensator) technology serves to improve power quality and regulate grid voltage. By installing this equipment, the network becomes more efficient and better capable of managing voltage fluctuations, which contributes to preventing outages and increasing the security of energy supply.
The implementation of these advanced technical solutions is essential in the current context, where Romania aims to integrate an increasing number of renewable energy sources. These sources, such as wind or solar farms, can create fluctuations in the grid, and STATCOM installations help balance them, ensuring stable operation for consumers.
The completion of this project demonstrates the capacity of local companies to manage complex engineering works. Modernizing energy infrastructure remains a priority for Romania, given the need to align the national system with European standards of efficiency and sustainability.
In the long term, such investments are vital for the country's energy independence. By modernizing its grids, Romania becomes better prepared for future challenges in the energy sector, while also providing a more secure infrastructure for all citizens and the business environment.
