United States supports the "Vertical Corridor" for gas transport through Romania
The United States of America has officially expressed its interest in the energy project called the "Vertical Corridor." This strategic natural gas transport route is designed to connect Greece with Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, and Slovakia, thereby facilitating the diversification of energy sources in the region.
Romania's Minister of Energy has confirmed the importance of this project for our country's energy security. Through this corridor, natural gas can be transported from south to north, offering a viable alternative to traditional supply routes. This initiative is seen as an essential step toward reducing Eastern Europe's energy dependence.
United States participation in this project underscores Washington's desire to support countries in the region in their process of energy transition and stability. American natural gas could reach the Romanian and European markets through liquefied natural gas terminals in Greece, using existing infrastructure or infrastructure currently under development.
The "Vertical Corridor" project represents a major opportunity for Romania to become an important regional hub for natural gas distribution. Romanian authorities are continuing discussions with international partners to finalize the technical stages necessary for the full operationalization of this transport route.
