Ten years of innovation: The FIRST Tech Challenge robotics program has transformed education in Romania
The FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) Romania educational program recently marked an important anniversary, celebrating ten years of activity dedicated to young technology enthusiasts. This initiative has become an essential pillar in the development of digital and engineering skills for students across the country, offering them a competitive and creative framework.
Since its launch, the program has recorded impressive figures that demonstrate its impact on the educational system. Over 10,800 students have actively participated in the competitions, guided by 550 dedicated mentor teachers. Furthermore, the success of this project has been supported by the involvement of 600 volunteers who contributed to organizing events and mentoring the teams.
In total, 236 robotics teams have been formed and have evolved under the umbrella of FTC Romania over this decade. These groups have had the opportunity to design, build, and program complex robots, while simultaneously learning about teamwork, resource management, and real-time technical problem-solving.
Through this initiative, Romania has managed to consolidate its position on the international map of educational robotics. Students who have gone through this program have acquired valuable practical skills, thereby preparing themselves for future careers in fields such as engineering, computer science, and information technology.
Looking to the future, the success of FIRST Tech Challenge Romania confirms the importance of investing in STEM education. The organizers aim to continue this mission, providing young Romanians with the ongoing opportunity to innovate and prepare for the technological challenges of the 21st century.
