Frasers Group, owner of Hervis in Romania, receives a refusal in its attempt to acquire Hugo Boss
The British group Frasers, which owns the Sports Direct and Hervis retail chains in Romania, recently attempted to acquire a significant portion of shares in the luxury brand Hugo Boss. This move was part of a broader strategy by the company to expand its portfolio in the premium fashion sector.
However, the management of Hugo Boss rejected the proposal from the British group. Representatives of the luxury brand stated that they are not interested in this collaboration or a change in the shareholder structure, considering their current strategy to be the most suitable for the development of the business.
Frasers Group is a major player in the European retail market, known for its aggressive acquisitions in recent years. In Romania, the company is present through Hervis sports equipment stores, which have an extensive network in the country's major shopping centers.
Economic analysts are closely watching these moves, as they demonstrate the desire of major retailers to diversify beyond sporting goods. Although this takeover attempt failed, it remains to be seen whether Frasers Group will continue to seek other investment opportunities in the European fashion market.
