Alert in Romania's airspace: Eight military aircraft monitored Russian drones
Last night was extremely tense for the Romanian authorities, after several Russian drones targeted locations in Ukraine near the border with Romania. The Romanian Air Force was placed on high alert to protect the national airspace and to monitor any danger that could affect the country's territory.
In total, eight military aircraft were scrambled during the night to oversee the situation. These measures were necessary because the drones were approaching Romania's border dangerously close. According to official information, most of the aircraft were intercepted or monitored, but a single drone managed to penetrate Romanian airspace.
Representatives of the authorities emphasized that the situation is being treated with the utmost seriousness. They explained that defending the airspace is not an exercise or a game, but a real mission that involves significant resources of the Romanian Army. The Romanian state's determination to protect its citizens and territorial integrity remains an absolute priority in the context of the conflict in the neighboring country.
Following this incident, there are discussions regarding the need for additional diplomatic measures to prevent such incursions in the future. The authorities continue to monitor the border area closely, assuring the population that all safety protocols are active to manage any threat that might arise due to the war in Ukraine.
