Cyberattack on the National Agency for Cadastre: Romanians' data exposed by a hacker
The National Agency for Cadastre and Land Registration in Romania is facing a critical situation after a hacker claimed to have gained access to the institution's databases. The individual, identified by the name Loic Matrier, has put sensitive information allegedly belonging to Romanian citizens up for sale on the internet.
According to his statements, the attacker managed to penetrate the computer systems by taking advantage of the weak security of passwords used by employees. He provided as proof examples of extremely simple and easily guessable passwords, such as "passw0rd" or "Pan4:mea," which were allegedly used to access official accounts.
Cybersecurity experts warn that such an incident puts the personal data of many Romanians at risk, including information about real estate properties. Romanian authorities have already launched an investigation to verify the veracity of these claims and to secure the institution's computer systems.
This event draws attention to the importance of digital security measures in public institutions. Specialists recommend the use of two-step authentication and complex passwords to prevent such security breaches, which can have serious consequences for citizens.
