Paul of Romania will be definitively extradited to the country to serve his sentence
The Court of Cassation of France has made a final decision in the case of Paul of Romania, rejecting his appeal against the ruling of the Paris Court of Appeal. This decision confirms that the French authorities have approved his surrender to Romania, where he must serve a prison sentence.
Paul of Romania was placed on an international wanted list after being convicted in the "Băneasa Farm" case. He left Romania before the final sentence was pronounced, subsequently being located and detained on French territory. Since then, he has challenged the extradition decisions in court, attempting to avoid returning to the country.
The Romanian Ministry of Justice has confirmed that the French court's decision is final and irrevocable. Procedures for bringing him to Romania will be initiated in the coming period, under the coordination of judicial authorities and the police, in compliance with all international legal standards in force.
This ruling marks the end of a long-standing legal process conducted in the French courts. Once he arrives in Romania, Paul of Romania will be taken into custody by the National Administration of Penitentiaries to be incarcerated in accordance with the arrest warrant issued in his name.
