Romania loses 770 million euros from PNRR funds
Romania has definitively lost the sum of 770 million euros from the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). This decision comes following the difficulties encountered by the authorities in implementing the reforms necessary to access these important European funds.
The loss of this money is the result of a lack of consensus between the parties that were part of the former governing coalition. Due to political disagreements, certain milestones and targets assumed through the PNRR were not met on time, which led to the blocking of funding for the targeted projects.
PNRR funds are essential for modernizing Romania's infrastructure, healthcare system, and education system. This lost sum was intended to support direct investments in the country's development, contributing to economic growth and the improvement of public service quality.
Currently, the authorities in Bucharest are trying to manage the situation and avoid further losses for the remaining funding tranches. Representatives of the European Commission have repeatedly emphasized the importance of adhering to the reform schedule so that Romania can benefit from all the financial resources allocated through this European program.
