PSD proposes a national pact to protect Romania's interests in Brussels
The Social Democratic Party (PSD) recently adopted a resolution titled "Romania before party interests." The document emphasizes the need for domestic political disputes to no longer be exported to Brussels, in order to avoid damaging the country's image and national interests within the European Union.
Through this initiative, the PSD proposes that all political parties in Romania sign a joint pact. The purpose of this agreement is to create a unified voice for Romanian representatives in European institutions, regardless of their political orientation. The core idea is for Romania's priorities to be consistently supported by all Romanian MEPs and officials.
Party representatives argue that, in recent years, the country's image has suffered due to political conflicts that were taken beyond its borders. They believe that closer cooperation between parties could bring greater economic and diplomatic benefits for Romania during European negotiations.
For now, the proposal has been launched in the public sphere, and it remains to be seen whether other political formations will agree to sign this pact. It remains to be seen how this initiative will be received in the current electoral context, marked by intense competition between parties in Romania.
