The Permanent Electoral Authority begins audits of political parties in September
The Permanent Electoral Authority (AEP) has officially announced that it will initiate audit missions at the main political parties in Romania. These checks are scheduled to begin on September 1st, according to statements made by the institution's president, Adrian Țuțuianu.
The primary purpose of these missions is to verify how political parties manage the funds they receive and how they comply with current legislation regarding the financing of political activity. The Authority aims to ensure that all organizations adhere to the strict rules imposed for financial transparency.
These audits come in an important political context, given the proximity of election periods. The institution constantly monitors how public money and private contributions are used in campaigns and in the current activity of the parties.
AEP representatives stated that these actions are part of their routine oversight activity. The targeted parties are required to provide inspectors with all necessary accounting documents to demonstrate the accuracy of their expenditures.
The results of these checks will be made public after the audit procedures are completed. Romanian citizens can follow the official reports of the Permanent Electoral Authority to see if any irregularities were identified or if the parties complied with legal standards.
