Romania, below the European average in terms of residential energy renovation
Romania is making slow progress in the energy modernization of residential buildings, remaining below the European Union average. Recent data provided by Eurostat shows that the pace of home renovations in our country remains one of the lowest in the community bloc.
This situation is concerning, given the European objectives to reduce energy consumption and decrease polluting emissions. Most homes in Romania are old buildings that do not benefit from adequate thermal insulation, which leads to significant heat loss and high bills for homeowners.
Experts emphasize that the renovation process is essential for increasing energy efficiency and improving thermal comfort. However, limited access to financing and complex bureaucracy represent major obstacles for citizens who wish to rehabilitate their homes.
Currently, Romania is among the countries with the poorest performance in this area, occupying one of the last places in the European rankings. Authorities are encouraged to accelerate financial support programs to help the population invest in green and sustainable solutions.
In the long term, improving the energy efficiency of buildings could reduce the country's energy dependence and contribute significantly to protecting the environment. It remains to be seen what concrete measures will be taken in the coming period to change this trend.
