Operation on the Danube: Romania detonated a rock to improve navigation
Romanian authorities recently carried out a complex operation to detonate an underwater rock located on the course of the Danube. The main purpose of this action was to divert the water flow and improve navigation conditions in the respective area, in order to ensure safer and more efficient river transport.
This work attracted the attention of our neighbors south of the Danube, as the Kozloduy nuclear power plant in Bulgaria is located near the work area. Bulgarian authorities closely monitored the situation to ensure that activities on Romanian territory did not endanger critical energy infrastructure.
Representatives of the Bulgarian Ministry of Energy officially stated that the Kozloduy nuclear power plant was not affected by the detonations. According to the information provided, the plant's units continue to operate within normal parameters, without recording any technical or safety issues following the work carried out by the Romanian side.
The operation was necessary to remove obstacles that hindered ship traffic on the Danube, especially during periods of low water levels. Romanian authorities stated that all safety measures were followed to prevent any negative impact on the environment or neighboring facilities.
In conclusion, the situation remained under control, and the collaboration between Romanian and Bulgarian experts ensured that the work was carried out without incident. Navigation on the Danube will benefit from these improvements, while the safety of the nuclear power plant in Bulgaria remains a priority for both states.
