Siegfried Mureșan has been designated Prime Minister of Romania
The President of Romania, Nicușor Dan, announced on Thursday the designation of Siegfried Mureșan for the position of Prime Minister. The decision was made following official consultations held at the Cotroceni Palace with representatives of political parties.
The official decree regarding the appointment of Siegfried Mureșan as Prime Minister-designate has already been published in the Official Gazette. This stage represents an important step in the process of forming the new government, following recent negotiations between political leaders.
Siegfried Mureșan is currently a member of the European Parliament and has vast experience in European policies. In the coming period, he will have to form his government team and draft the governing program that he will present before Parliament.
To officially take over the mandate of Prime Minister, the new cabinet proposed by Siegfried Mureșan must receive a vote of confidence from the Parliament of Romania. A period of intense negotiations follows to ensure the necessary support in the legislature.
