Romanian football moves to a new level: Advanced VAR technology for the Superliga
Romanian football is entering an important stage of technological modernization. The Romanian Football Federation (FRF), together with its partners, has announced the signing of a long-term agreement, valid until 2033, to improve the video assistant referee (VAR) system.
This collaboration, carried out alongside EAD and the company Sportec Solutions AG, brings significant changes to the quality of broadcasts and the decisions made on the pitch. The main novelty consists of the introduction of 4K high-resolution video cameras, which will provide much clearer images for the referees in the VAR room.
In addition to superior video quality, the system will benefit from new technology for determining the offside line. This technical solution will allow for faster and more precise decisions during critical moments of matches, thereby reducing human error and controversy during Superliga games.
This long-term partnership demonstrates the desire of officials to align Romanian football with current European standards. The implementation of these modern technologies represents an essential step for increasing professionalism and fairness in domestic competitions, while also offering a better experience for supporters.
