Romania invests 223 million euros in drone technology through the SAFE program
The Ministry of Internal Affairs (MAI) of Romania has announced the launch of major projects for the development of drone technology. These initiatives are funded through the European SAFE program, which provides a total budget of 223 million euros for the modernization of surveillance and intervention equipment.
The projects are being carried out in close cooperation with other European Union member states. The main goal of this collaboration is to improve the capacity to monitor borders and high-risk areas, using modern technology that allows for a faster response in emergency situations.
The use of drones will help Romanian authorities to monitor hard-to-reach areas more efficiently, thereby reducing the time required for rescue missions or border control. This investment represents an important step for the digitalization of state institutions and for aligning with European security standards.
Experts emphasize that the success of these projects depends on good coordination between partner countries. If Romania fails to implement these technologies according to the established plan, there is a risk of losing the allocated European funds, which would slow down the modernization process of intervention equipment.
In conclusion, the SAFE program offers Romania a major opportunity to strengthen its security infrastructure. The implementation of these drones will contribute directly to increasing the safety of citizens and to better resource management in critical situations.
