The “Health for Villages” campaign provides free medical consultations in Vâlcea County

The “Health for Villages” humanitarian campaign has returned to Vâlcea County, bringing medical support to rural communities with limited access to healthcare services. The initiative is organized by volunteers from the National Cathedral Chapel in Bucharest and aims to improve the health status of residents in isolated areas.

On Saturday, September 19, 2026, teams consisting of volunteer doctors and nurses provided free consultations to people in need of medical examinations. This action is part of a broader national project that aims to reach as many localities as possible where residents cannot easily get to hospitals in cities.

In addition to the consultations themselves, the volunteers offered patients advice on prevention and a healthy lifestyle. Many of the beneficiaries of these services are elderly people or low-income families, for whom traveling to a specialized medical office represents a major difficulty.

The “Health for Villages” project demonstrates the importance of volunteering in the Romanian medical system, succeeding in supplementing the lack of personnel and infrastructure in rural areas. The organizers announced that they will continue these campaigns in other counties across the country to ensure the continuity of medical care for the most vulnerable citizens.
