Sudden weather changes in Romania: From heatwave to violent storms
After a period of intense heat that affected the entire country, the weather has changed radically in western and central Romania. Meteorologists have issued warnings of atmospheric instability, and extreme phenomena have hit several major cities, causing significant material damage.
In cities such as Brașov and Timișoara, torrential rains fell in a short period of time, turning streets into actual rivers. Large amounts of water exceeded the capacity of the sewage systems, which led to the flooding of several road arteries and households in low-lying areas.
Residents were surprised by the violence of the meteorological phenomena, with many being forced to seek immediate shelter to protect themselves from hail and strong gusts of wind. Local authorities intervened on the ground to clear blocked roads and to provide support to citizens affected by the floods.
Experts warn that such sudden temperature changes, from extreme heat to violent storms, are becoming increasingly frequent. The population is advised to constantly follow weather forecasts and to avoid travel during orange or red code warnings to prevent any danger.
