Air alert at Romania's border: F-16 aircraft deployed for monitoring
The Ministry of National Defense (MApN) recently announced that Romanian army radars detected a group of aerial targets near the border with our country. The incident took place in the area of Vylkove, Ukraine, at a distance of approximately 16 kilometers from the Romanian border.
As a precautionary measure, Romanian authorities immediately activated standard safety procedures. Two F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force took off from the 86th Air Base to monitor the situation in the airspace near the border.
This action is part of the air policing missions carried out under NATO command, intended to ensure the security of Romania's airspace. The military aircraft patrolled the area to ensure there were no risks to the national territory or the civilian population in Tulcea County.
The Ministry of Defense stated that monitoring of the situation continued until the aerial targets disappeared from the radars. Currently, no incidents have been reported on Romanian territory, and authorities continue to carefully supervise the airspace in the border area.
