Cheaper Gasoline in July & New Online Rules
Fuel prices are falling in July, while authorities are preparing new restrictions on minors' access to the internet. On the economic front, the unemployment rate remains above the European average, and the state is facing a record seizure in an international litigation.
You will pay less at the pump in the coming period, as fuel prices gradually decrease throughout July. Standard gasoline is expected to drop to the 7.90-8.20 lei per liter range, thus remaining below the European Union average.
Also for the benefit of safety, but with an impact on daily habits, a ban on children's access to social networks is being prepared. The regulation is being drafted at the European Union level and will be mandatory for implementation in Romania and for all member states.
Regarding the labor market, recent data shows that the unemployment rate has risen to 6.4%. This level places Romania above the Eurozone average, which recorded a rate of 6.2% in May.
However, the financial stability of some key institutions is being tested by a massive lawsuit. ROMATSA, which manages air traffic in Romania, has received a seizure of over 3.4 billion lei as part of the legal dispute between the Romanian state and the vaccine manufacturer Pfizer.
Alongside these challenges, infrastructure to the east is developing through the construction of the first highway that will connect Romania to the Republic of Moldova. The project targets the first 5 kilometers across the Prut River and is financed through European funds from the SAFE program (support for energy and infrastructure).
