The first large waste collection center in Romania has been opened in Cluj-Napoca
Authorities in Cluj-Napoca have inaugurated the first large-scale Voluntary Contribution Collection Center (CAV) in Romania. This modern facility spans an area of 1.4 hectares and represents an important step in the national strategy for waste management and environmental protection.
The new center is designed for the separate collection of waste that cannot be disposed of in regular household trash bins. Citizens can drop off various materials here, such as bulky waste, construction debris, furniture, electrical and electronic equipment, as well as green or textile waste. Access is free for individuals, with the goal of encouraging recycling and preventing the abandonment of waste in nature.
To use this center, residents must follow certain access rules and present identification documents proving their residence in the area. The facility is equipped with modern sorting and management equipment, ensuring an efficient and safe process for all those who choose to contribute to selective collection.
The project in Cluj-Napoca is part of a broader national initiative. The government and local authorities plan to build similar centers in several counties across the country to create a national collection network. This measure is essential for meeting European objectives regarding the circular economy and for reducing pollution in urban communities across Romania.
