Thirteen EU member states call for the simplification of European legislation: Romania did not sign the initiative
A group of thirteen European Union countries recently requested a "spring cleaning" of community legislation from the European Commission. These states want to eliminate unnecessary rules and reduce the bureaucracy that hinders the activities of companies and citizens within the European space.
The initiative aims to simplify administrative procedures and eliminate regulations that overlap or are no longer relevant in the current context. Supporters of this effort believe that clearer and less cumbersome legislation would help increase the European Union's economic competitiveness on a global scale.
Romania is not among the signatories of this joint letter. The decision by the authorities in Bucharest not to join the group has drawn the attention of analysts, given that the simplification of European procedures is a frequently discussed topic within the European Council.
Although Romania chose not to participate in this specific initiative, our country continues to collaborate with European partners to improve the legislative framework. It remains to be seen how the European Commission will respond to this request and whether concrete changes will be made in the coming period.
This move reflects a broader debate within the European Union regarding the balance between citizen protection and economic efficiency. Simplifying laws could be an important step for the future of the European single market.
