Bucharest residents received an important warning on their mobile phones today. Authorities issued a RO-ALERT message to announce a Red Code for severe weather. This alert targets violent storms and extreme weather phenomena in the capital.
The warning was valid between 18:00 and 19:00. Meteorologists forecast torrential rain, frequent lightning, and powerful gales. In such situations, the amount of water can quickly exceed normal limits, causing flooding on certain streets.
Due to strong winds, there is a risk of trees or billboards falling. The Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (ISU) recommends that citizens stay indoors or in safe places. Additionally, drivers are advised to drive with caution and avoid parking their cars under trees.
