Medical staff in Romania have launched a warning strike
Hundreds of hospitals in Romania are facing a protest action by healthcare system employees these days. The medical staff decided to organize a warning strike to express their dissatisfaction with the new legislative regulations.
The main cause of this labor dispute is the new law on remuneration. Trade unions argue that the normative act does not correctly reflect the responsibilities and efforts made by doctors and nurses, calling for a re-evaluation of the pay scale for the entire healthcare sector.
During the warning strike, activity in hospital units was partially affected. Although medical emergencies are still being treated with priority, many other scheduled services have been temporarily suspended, which has created difficulties for patients who needed non-urgent consultations or interventions.
Representatives of the medical staff stated that they are open to dialogue with the authorities to find a quick solution. They warn that, if their demands are not taken into account, they are prepared to escalate the protests by launching an indefinite general strike.
Currently, the Ministry of Health is analyzing the unions' requests to avoid blocking the public health system. Citizens are advised to check the situation at hospitals before showing up for medical services that do not represent major emergencies.
