Sudden weather change in Romania: After the heatwave, torrential rains and storms are coming
After a long period of extreme heat that has affected the entire country, meteorologists are announcing a significant change in the weather in Romania. The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has issued the forecast for the coming period, warning the population about the emergence of unstable weather phenomena, such as torrential rains and storms.
Although high temperatures have dominated the last few weeks, the atmosphere is becoming unstable, favoring the formation of storm clouds. Experts warn that these phenomena can be dangerous, being accompanied by lightning and wind intensifications, which can cause material damage or local flooding.
Regarding the rainfall regime, the forecast indicates that precipitation will be deficient across the entire country. However, the intra-Carpathian areas are the most exposed to the risk of recording insufficient amounts of water, which maintains concern regarding the prolonged drought in agriculture.
The weather forecast issued by the ANM is valid until August 31, 2026. Authorities recommend that citizens carefully follow official weather alerts and avoid travel during strong storms to prevent any unpleasant incidents.
