Housing is becoming increasingly difficult to buy in Romania: Expert analysis
Access to one's own home has become an increasingly significant challenge for Romanians in recent times. According to a recent analysis conducted by FIDES, the costs of purchasing an apartment have risen significantly, placing growing financial pressure on family budgets.
Data shows that to purchase an apartment with an area of 55 square meters, a buyer must pay a 15% down payment and take out a loan for a period of 25 years. Under these conditions, the monthly loan installment would represent approximately 56.3% of the average net salary of an employee in Romania.
Experts warn that this high level of financial burden drastically limits the access of young people and families to new housing. The situation is aggravated by high prices in the real estate market, which are not always correlated with the average income of the population.
In this context, the FIDES organization emphasizes the need to implement a national affordable housing program. They propose that authorities create clearer rules for private investments, which would stimulate the construction of homes at reasonable prices for citizens.
In conclusion, the real estate market in Romania needs concrete measures to become more balanced. Without strategic intervention and more careful regulation of the sector, purchasing a home will remain a difficult goal to achieve for a large part of the population.
