Romania records one of the highest fuel price increases in the European Union
Drivers in Romania are currently facing a significant rise in fuel prices at the pump. Recent data shows that our country is among the European Union member states with the highest price increases recorded in August 2026.
According to official statistics, the average fuel price across the entire European Union has risen by 23.8% compared to the same period last year. This upward trend has affected most member states, against the backdrop of the current global economic context.
Romania, however, has exceeded the European average, recording a price hike of 26.7%. This increase places our country at the top of the states with the highest price surges, which puts additional pressure on household budgets and the transport costs of local companies.
Economic experts are closely monitoring market developments, given that fuel prices directly influence the cost of many consumer products. It remains to be seen how prices will evolve in the coming months and whether the authorities will take measures to mitigate the impact of these price hikes on end consumers.
