State-of-the-art technology for mountain rescuers in Maramureș
Salvamont Maramureș has recently implemented an innovative project, becoming the first structure of its kind in Romania to use a high-performance professional drone. This technology was specifically acquired to improve the efficiency of search and rescue missions in difficult mountain areas.
The new drone is equipped with advanced sensors and state-of-the-art cameras, capable of identifying lost persons even in adverse weather conditions or at night. The device can cover large areas of terrain in a very short time, providing rescuers with clear images in real time.
The use of this equipment will considerably reduce the time required to locate tourists in danger. In emergency situations, every minute is essential, and the drone allows the intervention team to reach victims faster, without endangering the safety of rescuers in areas with a high risk of avalanche or collapse.
This project represents an important step for the modernization of emergency services in Romania. Local authorities hope that the success of this initiative in Maramureș will encourage other counties to invest in similar technologies to increase the level of safety on mountain trails across the country.
