Drivers will not be fined for technical issues with the new TollRo vignette application
The Ministry of Transport has announced an important measure for drivers in Romania, in the context of the launch of the new electronic vignette payment system, called TollRo. This decision comes after the new application encountered technical difficulties immediately following its official launch, which took place on Thursday.
Acting Minister of Transport, Radu Miruță, has signed an official order temporarily suspending sanctions for drivers who were unable to pay their road tax due to errors in the system. This measure aims to protect users who attempted to comply with the law but were hindered by the digital platform's technical issues.
Authorities stated that the grace period will remain in effect until the TollRo application's operational issues are fully resolved. During this interval, drivers will not receive fines if they have failed to pay the vignette through the new program, though they are encouraged to attempt payment again as soon as the system becomes stable.
This initiative was received with relief by vehicle owners, who feared potential contraventional sanctions due to errors that were not their responsibility. The Ministry has provided assurances that technical teams are working intensively to optimize the platform and ensure a seamless experience for all users in the country.
In conclusion, if you encounter difficulties using the TollRo application, you do not need to worry about potential fines during this transition period. It is recommended to periodically check the Ministry of Transport's official website for updates regarding the status of the system and to ensure that the road tax is paid correctly as soon as the application is functioning normally.
