Târgu Mureș Zoo celebrates 62 years of existence
The Târgu Mureș Zoo, the largest institution of its kind in Romania, is celebrating an important anniversary this month. It marks 62 years since its founding, a milestone for animal conservation and public education in our country.
The institution was officially opened on August 23, 1964. Over the decades, the zoo has grown steadily, becoming a major attraction for tourists from all over Romania, as well as for the local community looking to spend time in nature.
To celebrate this special occasion, the zoo's administration has prepared an anniversary program dedicated to visitors. It includes activities designed to draw attention to the importance of protecting species and biodiversity, while offering an educational and relaxing experience for families and children.
Over the years, the Târgu Mureș Zoo has undergone numerous modernization processes to provide the best possible conditions for the animals it houses. Today, it continues to be a symbol of the city and an essential place for wildlife research and protection.
The events organized for this jubilee invite the public to discover the history of the zoo and enjoy the diversity of the species that live here. This anniversary represents not only a look at the past but also a commitment to the future regarding animal welfare.
