Romania intervenes to support Serbia in extinguishing wildfires
Our country has decided to send significant aid to Serbia, the neighboring state currently facing large-scale wildfires. Romanian authorities responded positively to the request for international assistance, mobilizing technical and human resources to stop the spread of the fire that is endangering local communities and forested areas.
The Department for Emergency Situations announced that a team consisting of dozens of rescue firefighters has already departed for the affected areas. They are equipped with wildfire suppression vehicles, prepared to intervene in difficult terrain where access is limited. The mission of the Romanian rescuers is complex, given the high temperatures and strong winds that favor the spread of the flames.
In addition to specialized personnel, Romania has also sent a Black Hawk helicopter to Serbia, equipped with a modern firefighting system known as a "Bambi Bucket." This equipment allows for the collection of large quantities of water from natural sources and its precise discharge over fire hotspots, being essential for interventions in mountainous or hard-to-reach areas.
This action is part of European and regional cooperation mechanisms for emergency situations. Romania thus demonstrates solidarity with its neighbors, while simultaneously strengthening its capacity to manage major crises through collaboration with international partners. The intervention teams will remain in Serbia until the situation is under control and the danger is completely eliminated.
