Alert in Tulcea County: Romanian fighter jets scrambled following a drone attack at the border
Romanian authorities issued an RO-Alert message on Monday evening for residents in the northern part of Tulcea County. The decision was made after drones were detected near the border, in the context of recent attacks in Ukraine.
As a safety measure, the Ministry of National Defense dispatched four fighter jets to monitor the airspace. Two F-16 aircraft of the Romanian Air Force and two F-18 aircraft of the Spanish Air Force were scrambled to survey the area and ensure the security of citizens.
Residents in the affected localities received clear instructions through the RO-Alert system. They were advised to remain calm, take shelter in safe areas, and avoid windows or open spaces during the alert. The message was sent to prevent any danger caused by drone debris that could fall on national territory.
Monitoring teams remained on alert throughout the night to analyze the situation on the ground. Romanian authorities continue to collaborate with NATO allies to maintain the security of the national airspace in the face of conflicts in the neighborhood.
The situation remains under control, and authorities remind the population to get information only from official sources. Monitoring of border areas will continue in the coming period to guarantee the protection of all citizens in the region.
