Romania sends aid to Serbia to extinguish forest fires
Romania has decided to provide support to the authorities in Serbia in their efforts to extinguish the wildfires affecting border regions. The government in Bucharest has approved the deployment of a specialized team and technical equipment necessary to limit the spread of the flames and protect inhabited areas.
The decision comes following an official request received through the European Union Civil Protection Mechanism. Romania has mobilized specialized aircraft for firefighting, capable of transporting large quantities of water, as well as personnel trained for difficult interventions in mountainous or hard-to-reach areas.
This aid mission reflects the good cooperation between the two neighboring countries in crisis situations. The Romanian teams are working closely with Serbian firefighters to identify the most dangerous hotspots and to coordinate extinguishing operations under safe conditions.
The wildfire situation in the Balkan region has become critical in recent days due to extremely high temperatures and prolonged drought. Authorities in Romania are constantly monitoring the evolution of weather phenomena and are prepared to intervene in other areas if needed, respecting international commitments of solidarity.
Extinguishing efforts will continue in the coming days until the risk of the fire reigniting is completely eliminated. This action underscores the importance of regional cooperation in managing natural disasters that can affect the environment and the safety of citizens beyond national borders.
