Romania's telecommunications market: Satisfied customers, but low profitability
Romania ranks 25th out of 34 countries evaluated in the "Kearney Global Telecom Health Index 2026" study. This position places our country between Austria and Japan, with an overall score of 59 out of 100 possible points, reflecting a complex situation for local telephone and internet operators.
The analysis shows that, although Romanian users are generally satisfied with the services received, telecommunications companies are facing financial difficulties. Specifically, operators are failing to increase their revenues efficiently, which leads to rather poor economic returns for this sector.
Experts point out that the Romanian market is highly competitive, which has kept prices at an affordable level for consumers. However, this fight for customers, combined with the necessary investments in new technologies, limits the companies' ability to generate higher profits.
In conclusion, the telecommunications sector in Romania is going through a stage of economic challenges. Although the quality of services is appreciated by the population, finding a balance between low prices for customers and business profitability remains the main task for operators in our country in the coming period.
