Pro TV prepares the launch of a new sports channel in Romania
The Romanian media market could soon have a new major player in the field of sports broadcasting. The Pro TV Group has taken an official step in this direction by requesting a license for a new television station from the National Audiovisual Council (CNA).
The new channel is set to be named VOYO Sport 1. This initiative comes in the context of the VOYO platform, the group's streaming service, having consistently invested in recent years in acquiring rights for various sports competitions, thereby strengthening its offering for subscribers.
Although details regarding the new station's program schedule have not yet been publicly announced, the launch of a TV channel dedicated to sports could change the competitive dynamics of the specialized television market in our country. The final decision regarding the granting of the license now rests with the members of the CNA, who will analyze the request submitted by Pro TV representatives.
Currently, sports fans in Romania have several options available to watch their favorite events, but the entry of a strong brand like Pro TV into this segment could bring greater content diversity.
