Russian attack at the border with Romania: Orlivka customs point destroyed
A drone attack launched by Russia last night destroyed the infrastructure of the Orlivka customs point, located in Ukraine, right on the border with Romania. This location is an important strategic point, as it provides a direct link to the city of Isaccea in Tulcea County via a ferry that crosses the Danube.
Following the shelling, Ukrainian authorities were forced to completely suspend operations at this border crossing point. The customs infrastructure suffered major damage due to the explosions, and several vehicles in the area were destroyed. Fortunately, no casualties were reported among customs personnel or passengers in transit at the time of the attack.
Romanian authorities are closely monitoring the situation at the border. Traffic through the Isaccea customs point has been restricted, and local authorities are advising drivers and transport companies to choose alternative routes to avoid the conflict-affected area. Romanian law enforcement remains on alert to ensure security in the border region.
This incident represents a new escalation of tensions in the proximity of Romanian territory. Since the beginning of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, port areas and border crossing points on the Danube have become frequent targets of air attacks, affecting logistics and transport in the region.
The situation remains uncertain, and Ukrainian authorities are currently working to assess the damage and determine when traffic can be safely resumed. Citizens who were planning to cross the border through this point are advised to constantly check official information provided by the Romanian Border Police.
