Red Code for heatwave in Romania: Temperatures reach the 41-degree threshold
The National Meteorological Administration (ANM) has issued a severe weather warning for several regions in Romania. Due to the persistent heatwave, authorities have extended the Red Code, while the rest of the country remains under orange and yellow code alerts.
In the areas covered by the Red Code, maximum temperatures will reach extreme values of up to 41 degrees Celsius. This phenomenon puts significant pressure on public health and infrastructure, which is why meteorologists recommend maximum caution during periods of strong sunshine.
In the rest of the territory, where orange and yellow code warnings have been issued, the weather will also be very hot. Here, temperatures will range between 35 and 39 degrees Celsius, with thermal discomfort being pronounced throughout the entire day.
Specialists recommend that citizens avoid prolonged exposure to the sun between 11:00 AM and 6:00 PM and consume sufficient amounts of water. It is also advisable to wear light clothing made of natural materials and to seek out cool spaces to avoid health problems caused by excessive heat.
