Tourism in Romania records a slight increase in July
The tourism sector in Romania showed signs of recovery in July of this year. According to recent data provided by the National Institute of Statistics (INS), the number of tourists who stayed in accommodation units in the country increased by 6.2% compared to the same period last year.
This growth was also accompanied by an increase in the number of overnight stays, which indicates that tourists chose to spend more time in local destinations. This positive development in July is an important indicator for the hospitality industry, which is trying to recover after a more difficult period.
However, the overall balance for the first seven months of the year remains negative. Although July brought encouraging figures, they were not enough to compensate for the declines recorded in previous months, when the number of visitors was lower than in 2025.
Economic experts are carefully monitoring these developments to see if the growth trend will continue into the autumn months. Tourism authorities hope that events organized in the coming period will attract more visitors, both from within the country and from abroad.
In conclusion, although the tourism industry continues to face long-term challenges, the results from July offer a reason for optimism for operators in the field. It remains to be seen how the year will end statistically for the Romanian hotel sector.
