Good news for residents of old apartment buildings: Elevators can be installed with state funding
Residents living in old apartment buildings constructed without elevators could soon benefit from a significant improvement in their living conditions. The government has launched a national program aimed at installing elevators in buildings that were not equipped with this system at the time of construction.
The measure specifically targets condominiums that have at least three levels above ground. Many of these buildings were erected several decades ago, and the lack of an elevator represents a major problem, especially for elderly people or families with small children living on the upper floors.
To access this funding, homeowners' associations must meet certain conditions established by law. The project aims not only to increase the comfort of residents but also to adapt old buildings to current accessibility and safety standards.
Authorities will provide further details regarding the steps required for submitting applications in the coming period. This initiative is seen as a necessary step for modernizing Romania's housing stock and facilitating access to one's own home for all citizens.
