Refugee protection until 2028 & peace plans
Ukrainian refugees in Romania are receiving a long-term stability guarantee, as efforts to rebuild the neighboring country and end the conflict intensify. The European Union has decided to extend legal support measures, providing clarity to millions of displaced persons.
If you benefit from temporary protection as a Ukrainian refugee, you will be able to remain legally in Romania and the rest of the European Union until March 2028. The decision made on Friday by the EU ensures the continuity of rights to work, education, and healthcare for the 4.4 million beneficiaries. The measure aims to eliminate uncertainty regarding the legal status of those who cannot safely return to Ukraine in the near future.
Closely linked to the region's future, Ukraine has secured over 10 billion euros for reconstruction through approximately 200 international agreements and memorandums. These funds are intended for infrastructure restoration, while President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has announced a new 40-day military strategy. The plan aims to force Moscow to accept an end to the war, specifically targeting the logistical isolation of the Crimean peninsula.
