Ploiești to host the 2026 Special Olympics Romania National Games
The city of Ploiești has been chosen to host the 2026 edition of the Special Olympics Romania National Games. This large-scale sporting event will take place at the end of June and will bring together hundreds of athletes with intellectual disabilities from across the country.
The Special Olympics National Games represent the most important event for athletes within this organization. The competition offers participants the chance to demonstrate their athletic skills in various disciplines, while simultaneously promoting social inclusion and respect for diversity.
Local authorities in Ploiești and representatives of Special Olympics Romania are already collaborating to prepare the necessary infrastructure. The organizers aim to create a welcoming environment where athletes can enjoy the spirit of competition and the support of the public.
In addition to the sporting events, the program will also include activities dedicated to health and socialization for participants and their families. Special Olympics Romania emphasizes that such initiatives are essential for increasing the self-confidence of individuals with special needs.
Preparations for this event will continue in the coming months, and the organizers hope that the residents of Ploiești will stand with the athletes. The 2026 Games promise to be a celebration of sport and solidarity, marking an important moment for the local community and for inclusive sports in Romania.
