Romania's first large waste collection center has opened in Cluj-Napoca
Authorities in Cluj-Napoca have inaugurated the first large-scale Voluntary Contribution Collection Center (CAV) in Romania. This modern facility spans an area of 1.4 hectares and aims to improve local waste management by offering citizens an efficient solution for recycling.
At this center, residents can drop off a wide range of waste that cannot be disposed of in regular bins free of charge. This includes construction debris, old furniture, garden waste, electronic and household appliances, as well as used tires. Access to the center is granted based on an identity document, thereby ensuring a clear record of the materials collected.
The project represents an important step toward protecting the environment and reducing illegal dumping. By creating this space, authorities are encouraging selective collection and responsible recycling of materials that would otherwise have ended up in landfills or polluted nature.
The success of this center in Cluj-Napoca will serve as a model for future investments in the field. The government and local authorities plan to build similar facilities in other regions of the country to create a national waste management network that meets European environmental standards.
